Slave bills of sale and inventory
One document, dated Augusta, Apri 26 1834, records a payment of two thousand two hundred and fifty dollars for 5 slaves; Richard - 15 years old,Tabby and her three children, a boy [?roy] - seven years, a girl Laura - five years, and a boy [suckling] James, from L.B. [Morrisore] to B.B. Miller. One document, dated 1840, no location. [Leaving] to S.A. [ ] Memorandum of Negro [ ] for 1840. A list of names and prices are given. Both items are affixed to mats.
State vs. Martha, a negro girl slave, the property & John Howard-- Court Case
This document documents a course case between John Howard and his young slave, Martha, who was accused of attempting to burn down his property in Augusta, Georgia. Martha denied the accustation. Verdict of case unknown.
