Reminiscences of the Old South

 Collection — Folder: 1
Identifier: MSS-058

Scope and Contents

This collection is comprised of one small typed booklet entitled Reminiscences of the Old South, a speech written by an unknown author. The author appears to be a member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames, adressing a crowd of mixed "northerners" and "southerners." The author divides her speech into three sections: "the first is negro stories, the second, the dialect poems, and the last, a reading of that classic 'Aeneas Africanus.'" The speech focuses on a wealthy white woman's representation of southern African Americans and their role in Southern history.
