Scope and Contents

This collection is comprised of the single copy of a map of the Province of Georgia, 1780. The map depicts trails used for trading as well as general locations of Native American tribes, and was most likely published in London.

Overview

Lane Harris Allen, PhD, MD, was a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia as well as a professor and department chair of MCG's Gross Anatomy. This collection consists of Dr. Allen’s research notes regarding the history of the Medical College of Georgia and includes photographs and drawings, and a brief written history of the MCG Department of Anatomy.

Abstract Original letters, beginning with business letters to Thomas Cumming, first intendant (mayor) of Augusta, letters from his children through several generations. There is a large group of letters from Julien Cumming from a prison camp during the Civil War. Julien later died there. This collection features the writings and research of Don Rhodes, former editor of the Morris Communications Company. His work features entertainers in the music and acting industries, both local to Augusta and nationally, and history of Georgia and the CSRA.

Scope and Contents

This collection is comprised of 2 copies of Hall's county map of Georgia, 1895. The map depicts Georgia counties, and is color coded to depict areas of land that were allocated as a part of land lotteries that took place in 1805, 1807, 1820, 1821, 1827, and 1832.
