Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The collection consists of the papers of Alice F Stewart, 1881-1975. The papers include scrapbooks, correspondences, printed materials, photographs, and yearbooks. Two scrapbooks document her nursing career during World War I in Arc-en-Barrios Haute, France. The other three scrapbooks contain newspaper clippings, photographs, and programs relating to University Hospital School of Nursing, predominantly the Barrett (white) School. Most of her correspondences are with nurses associated with University Hospital School of Nursing or the Georgia State Nursing Association, and do not include any correspondences from family. The printed materials include information on the University Hospital and the Georgia State Nursing Association. The photographs in the collection consist of graduating classes of the University Hospital School of Nursing in which half of them have students’ name labeled. The yearbooks are University Hospital School of Nursing with the date range of 1923-1959.
