Biographical / Historical

The Irish American Bank of Augusta operated between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Founded to serve the growing Irish immigrant population of Augusta, it primarily provided tailored banking services, savings accounts, and business capital. While the bank was originally located in the commercial district on Broad Street, it was destroyed in the Augusta Fire of 1916.

Arrangement

The ledgers have no formal distinct arrangement, other than what is written (or not written) on their front covers. For the books that do not have labels, order was imposed by labeling them "Volume 3" and "Volume 4."

This material was transferred to the Augusta Richmond County Historical Society by the Augusta Richmond County Museum on 02/15/1979.
