Biographical or Historical Information
The Titleholders Championship was a women’s golf tournament held from 1937 to 1966, with a final revival in 1972. Founded in Augusta and primarily played at Augusta Country Club, it brought together leading amateur and professional women golfers at a time when the sport was still developing. Although it predated the LPGA Tour (established in 1950), the tournament was later recognized as a major championship. Notable champions included Patty Berg, who won a record seven titles, along with other early figures such as Babe Zaharias and Louise Suggs.
