Sunset Homes architectural plans
Scope and Contents
This collection is comprised of the architectual plans for the Sunset Homes housing project in Augusta, Georgia, later called Cherry Tree Crossing. The collection includes an artist's rendering of the community, blueprints dating to 1939 and 1950, as well as documentation and a report gathered by the Augusta Housing Authority before the housing project was demolished in 2014.

Biographical or Historical Information
Mayor of Augusta, Richard E. Allen signed into effect a resolution to build low income housing in Augusta, Georgia in December of 1937, and appointed the first commissioners of the Augusta Hosuing Authority's board on December 21, 1937. The first two low income housing developments built in Augusta were Olmstead Homes and Sunset Homes at the corner of 15th street and Poplar street.
