Biographical / Historical
Lawton B. Evans School was a mid-twentieth-century public elementary school located on Walton Way in Augusta, Georgia. Named for educator and longtime Richmond County superintendent Lawton B. Evans (1862–1934), the school served local students for several decades before the original building was demolished and replaced by a newer facility within the Richmond County School System. Allegedly, it replaced another school in the Augusta area, the D'Antignac school.
