This collection comprises of research material conducted on the Georgia Loyalists post Revolutionary War in the Southern United States. The materials document loyalist's names, inprisonment locations, property and wealth inventories, and a research paper written by David Kearns on the subject. The specific research material consists of a large chart that documents personal information about the loyalists, including slave ownership records. Also includes typed notecards with miscellaneous information on the subject.

Biographical / Historical

The Georgia Loyalists were a British military unit, dedicated to British loyalist service during the American Revolutionary War. Created to provide a permanent military force in British occupied Savannah, they were contracted for service terms of two years, or upon the war's end. Major James Wright, son of govenor Sir James Wright, was the unit's only commanding officer. The loyalists fought in the Seige of Savannah and the Seige of Yorktown, and were quickly merged into the King's Carolina Rangers.
