Alice Mileikowsky served at Oliver General Hospital as a Women's Army Corps "medic" or medical technician. Medical technicians were used as laboratory, surgical, X-ray, and dental technicians as well as medical secretaries and ward clerks, freeing Army nurses for other duties.
Oliver General Hospital started life as a luxury hotel named the Forrest Hills-Ricker Hotel. The Forrest Hills Golf course is probably part of the original grounds. Oliver General Hospital remained a military medical center until the completion of the Eisenhower Medical Center at Fort Gordon. The property was abandoned and later acquired by Augusta College, with the intention of renovating it into student housing.
