Bones - Mell - Battey Cottage, constructed in the early 1800's and originally owned by G. Walton, Jr. Since 1820, the house has remained in the hands of of the descendants of John Bones. Bones' great niece, Mrs. Charles Mell, lived in the house. In 1965, Dr. and Mrs. Louis Battey bought the house from the estate of her grandmother and moved it to the Highgate area in 1967. This photograph was contributed to the collection by the Augusta Richmond County Historical Society (ARCHS).
