Scope and Contents
The collection consists of personal papers of Dr. Curtis G. Hames, Sr. The papers include correspondences, journals, publications, research data, photographs, slides, awards and oral histories interviews. The correspondences contain personal and professional letters written to and from Hames. His journals include heart and genealogical research notes dating to the 1980s and 1990s.
The collection also contains journal articles, research data, and log books on the Evans County Heart Study and other research projects from 1950s to 1980s. A majority of the log books and research materials have dates 1950s, 1960s, and 1980s with gaps in research materials from the 1970s. The collection includes several personal photographs, awards, and certificates of Hames. The collection also contains an oral history project conducted in 2006 in which 22 individuals were interviewed about their personal and professional relationships with Hames.
