Biographical or Historical Information
According to information contained on the original shipping container, this collection was transferred to Mr. Ray Rowland perhaps on behalf of the Richmond Historical Society and perhaps on behalf of Reese Library, from the Georgia Department of Archives and History. Date of shipment was July 26, 1985 via 3rd class mail. While in custody of the Georgia Department of Archives and History this material seems to have been titled Knowlton Manuscripts ac 74-350. However an alternate interpretation exists in the accompanying letter. The director of the Georgia Department of Archives and History is apologizing for the late return of the Lackey ledger and the loose Richmond county papers and these papers may be part of what the director is discussing. Upon arrival at Reese Library this material was separated into 85-12 Richmond County Legal Papers etc. and 85-13 Merchants and Planters Bank – Issuance Notes
