Biographical or Historical Information
Louise Shivers (1929 - 2014) was a writer in residence at Augusta State University (Augusta University) from the mid-eighties until her death in 2014. Her first publication "Here To Get My Baby Out of Jail" was praised by the Washington Post critic Jonathan Yardley as "the makings of a late-blooming Flannery O’Connor. Here to Get My Baby Out of Jail’ is a breathtakingly accomplished piece of work that in no way betrays its author’s inexperience.” She wrote four novellas, short stories and poetry, and one cookbook.
