Scope and Contents

This collection is comprised of both original materials and digital surrogates. The original 23 land plats were created by George Summers, the Richmond County surveyor from 1926-1927. The plats, on 24 cloth sheets, including an index sheet, provide the names of Richmond County property owners, though the city of Augusta is not included. Digital surrogates were obtained with the assistance of Mr Dan Crumpton. Scans of original maps held by Special Collections. Original maps are marked #1-18 on the items. Also exists in Microfilm format in the library microfilm collection.

This collection was created in two accessions. The first accession of original materials, acc# 1982.03, was donated Reese Library Special Collections, Augusta University, by George Summers, and delivered by his daughter, Mrs. James H. Minnick, Jr on 03/23/1982. Digital surrogates were accessioned in 2006, as acc# 2006.03. Acc# 1982.03; 2006.03
