Biographical or Historical Information
It is assumed that these documents were transferred from the Museum of Augusta History sometime in the 1970's. Documents have since been stored in no discernible order and are described here as found in the box. Number identification is retained and assumed to have been assigned by the Museum. These documents are assumed to be the basis of an article appearing in the National Genealogy Society Quarterly 1956 vol. 5 (4) p. 47-54 by William H. Dumont. On the basis of this article William H. Dumont is considered the creator of this collection. A copy of the Dumont article is filed with the documents. At the time of the inventory of these documents ( January 2013) it was noted that a folder labeled 29 October 1806 Henry Sheppard to Elbert Calhoon (Missing) was present but no further information about the contents of this folder can be provided. In preparing this inventory, all possible transcriptions of names were provided if the preparer was in doubt as to the transcription of a name.
