Biographical or Historical Information
Spanish War Diary (May 10, 1898- July 1898) annotations on events added ca. 1947-1949. This also contains a biographical sketch of "Uncle Stone." The handwritten manuscript Ancient Days in Augusta is a collection of reminiscences about Augusta Georgia. A photocopy of this manuscript is included. A typewritten manuscript, Schools in Augusta, appears to be transcription of a chapter in the handwritten manuscript. Notes from former collection administrator are start of an indexing project intended for Ancient Days in Augusta. The typed manuscript titled The Twenty-Odd Escapes is an unfinished manuscript document outlining boyhood through Philippines War. A letter dated May 21, 1951 indicated that Benson intended to donate his Philippines Diary (1899-1900). At present, there is no documentation that the Philippines Diary was received.
