These were donated by Marquin Barrett with Caroline Berckmans Davis, and Mrs. William Kitchens Barrett (Anne Berckmans).
Founded by the famous Belgian horticulturist Prosper Jules Berckmans, the Berckmans family was the proprietors of Fruitlands Nursery. The Fruitlands Nursery had a national reputation and prospered until the death of P.J.A. Berckmans Sr. The family sold the property in 1925 to Washington Heights Development Company who in turn sold it to be developed into the Augusta National Golf Club.
