Scope and Contents

This collection is comprised of 3 boxes of materials collected by Dr. Perzavia Praylow, an Assistant Professor of African American History at Augusta University (2012-2015) on behalf of Reese Library's Special Collections and Institutional Archives. The majority of the materials in the collection are photocopies of news paper articles and some ephemera realted to African American history in Augusta.

Biographical or Historical Information

Reverend Perzavia Praylow, Ph.D. is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church and a professor of history. She has worked as an instructor and professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Harvard University, Georgia Regents University (now Augusta University) and Benedict College. As of 2018, she serves as the pastor of Fifteenth Street Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C.
