Biographical or Historical Information
James Bailie Bishop (1798-1867) was the Mayor of Augusta, Ga from 1849-1850. He was born on August 10, 1798, in New Jersey, the youngest son of Thomas Alston Bishop. He married a cousin, Mary Lufbury (1800-1864), and the couple had one child, Mary A. Bishop (1828-1906).
