Biographical / Historical
The Robert E. Lee was a steamboat brought to Augusta, Georgia, around 1947 from Natchez, Mississippi, originally named the Warren Johnson. Used for excursions and later in operations for the LBC logging company, it became a fixture on the riverfront before eventually falling into disrepair, tilting, and sinking in the Savannah River near Silver Bluff in the 1960s.
