Biographical or Historical Information
Tubman High School was originally founded in 1874 and named after a local Augusta philanthropist Emily Tubman. It was originally an all-girls school but in 1951 changed to a co-educational school. The original building was burned down in a fire in 1916, and a new one was constructed on Walton Way in 1917. The building has since been renamed as the Tubman Education Center.
