This collection comprises of professional and personal materials relating to George J. Roark's time as the City Manager of Augusta from 1947-1948. The collection contains budgets, audits, city reports, bond appeals for city improvements, correspondence, and other materials related to the development of the city.

Biographical or Historical Information
Mr. Roark was city manager of Augusta January 5, 1948-April 13,1948;May20, 1948- November 29,1948. Mr Roark, a professional city manger was at the Cracker Party and the Augusta Citizens Union, a reform-minded group. Although the voters approved the city manger form of goveroment, the chater was declared invalid by the Georgia Supreme Court.
