This collection is comprised of a single anonymous diary, presumably written by a male Augusta native attending Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama throughout 1886. The diary primarily documents his time as a college student, but also includes a firsthand account of his experiences in Augusta and the Charleston earthquake of 1886. Many of the entries are signed with the initials "G.C.S.," but the true name of the original writer is unknown.
