Scope and Contents
This collection is comprised of the personal papers of Virginia E. De Treville, and includes personal correspondence, brochures De Treville collected from various Catholic community organizations and genealogical societies, event invitations and programs, newspaper clippings, and photographs and glass negatives.

Biographical or Historical Information
Virginia Evans de Treville was born in Dublin, GA on March 3, 1916, the daughter of Thomas W. Evans and Willie Thigpen Evans. She attended the Girls High School in Atlanta, GA, from which she graduated with honors. She went on to graduate from the University of California, Los Angeles, and to earn a Masters degree at Emory University.
Throughout her life, de Treville was involved in various heritage organizations, including the Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames, the XVII Century, Magna Charter Dames, as well as the Augusta-Richmond County Historical Society, the Augusta Genealogical Society, and the Augusta Museum of History. de Treville worked as a librarian at both the Augusta Public Library, and at the Library at then Augusta State University (now Augusta University).
She married Major T.P. deTreville, and the couple had one son, John Richard deTreville. Virginia Evans deTreville. She died on January 8, 2014, in Evans, GA.
