Custodial History
This material was put on deposit either to the Richmond County Historical Society or Reese Library Special Collections on February 14, 1978. It is believed that the deposit was arranged by Mr. Russell Blanchard, the retired president of the Georgia Railroad Bank and Trust Company. In the early 2000s a report was prepared by the History Factory for Wachovia Bank from these records. Wachovia was later acquired by Wells Fargo. These banks have been made aware of the existing records through this report. On the death of Russell Blanchard in 2007 these records were considered abandoned property under the 2010 Georgia Code, O.C.G.A 10-1-529.4, Abandonement of property loaned to a museum or archives repository; museum acquisition of abandoned property, and as a result, are considered to be owned by the Reese Library Special Collections & Institutional Archives under that code. The Minutes of the Board of Directors were digitized in 2017 with complete project funding from the Athens Historical Soceity of Athens Georgia. These materials, including all related materials, were combined into one collection in February 2019, and the finding aid for the collection was updated to reflect this consolidation.
