Biographical or Historical Information

This material was donated by Mr. Joe Lee to the Richmond County Historical Society on July 9, 1980 Frank Coffyn was one of the original five members of the Wright Brothers Exhibition Flying Team. In 1911, he was put in charge of the Wright Brothers School of Aviation (also refered to as the Wright Brothers Training School) in Augusta, Georgia.The school was probably closed by 1911, but the Wright Brothers, and Coffyn's recomendation replaced it with an Army Signal Corps aviation training base.
