Biographical or Historical Information
Date of acquisition by repository is unknown, Walter Allen Reiser Jr was a member of the Junior College of Augusta, Class of 1941. This may explain why the material may have been included in the repository. This scrapbook was created by Walter Reiser around or after 1931 when Reiser was a fifth grade student at Houghton Elementary School. It is unknown whether the scrapbook was created by Reiser in response to a school assignment or his personal interests.
Walter Reiser was the son of the Reverend Walter Reiser, pastor of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection and his wife Cora S. Reiser. Evidence from the 1931 Augusta Chronicle lists young Walter Reiser as a party guest, participator in pageants and dramatics and a piano student. According to the 1941 Rainbow yearbook, he continued these pursuits at the Junior College of Augusta along with basketball and participation in the corps of cadets.
In later life, Reiser was a Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he taught from 1973-1992
