Method of Acquisition

This collection was donated by the Center for the Study of Georgia History ca.2006-2007.  It was acquired in the belief that it contained a photograph of Amanda America Dickson, an Augustan, who was once the richest African-American women in the United States.  However an examination by Dr. Kent Leslie, writer of Dickson's definative biography, Woman of Color, Daughter of Privilege: Amanda America Dickson, 1849-1893, disproved that any of the female subjects were Amanda America Dixon.
