This collection is comprised of a historic preservation report that documents the history and current state of the Dogwood Terrace Apartment Public Housing Complex in Augusta, Georgia. The two items, a printed report and a CD, contain biographical information on the complex, maps, blueprints, architectural photography, and general condition and conservation information about the development of the property.

Biographical / Historical

Dogwood Terrace was established in April of 1959, originally called "Southside Terrace" by the Augusta Housing Authority (AHA). The development included 68 residential buildings and two community and office buildings. Much of the layout remained unchanged but additional resources were added for the community such as a childcare center and a primary health care center.

In 1993 new community and office buildings were added to the development and in 1994 the AHA updated the units to modify them as well as the grounds. Some of the units were changed into handicapped-accessible units, changing the number to an eventual 265 units in the complex.

Dogwood Terrace was operating and managed by the AHA until 2024, where it is now awaiting demolition.
