Scope and Contents

Text: Georgia, Richmond County Know all men by these presents that Arche Clegg of the County and State aforesaid, for and in consideration of the Sum of one Dollar to him in hand paid, the Recpt. whereof is hereby acknowleged, hath bargained, sold and grant claimed and by these presents does bargain sell and quit claim unto William M D'Antignac of the County and State aforesaid,all that tract or parcel of land ontaining forty aacres, mor or less said lot drawn by said Arche Clegg and known as lot No 29, 16th District + fourth Section, Cherokee County as will appear by a grant from the Governor of Georgia, dated 1st of March Eighteen Hundred + thirty three. The circumstances under which the forgoing grant is made are these, I sold my chance in the Lottery in which the above mentioned lot was drawn to Slaughter + Labugan late of the state and County aforesaid, for a valuable consideration to me in hand paid and at the sale of the assets of said Slaughter and Labugan who became insolvent, the said William M. D'Antignac purchased said tract and as I have Really had no interest in said lot for the past twenty years or more as the said William M desires a conveyance directly from me I cheerfully make to him such conveyance for the consideration above mentioned. Given under my hand and seal this third day of July Eighteen Hundred + fifty four.
