Scope and Contents
Text: Georgia Jefferson County This indenture made this twenty eighth day of November in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty Three. Between Jess Rose of the county of Burke and State of Georgia aforesaid of the one part and Sarah Batts of the county of Jefferson first mentioned of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Jess Rose for and in consideration of the sum of One Hundred Dollars to him in hand paid by the said Sarah Batts at and before the sealing and delivery of these presentsthe receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted, bargained, sold, alieved, conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents do grant, bargain, lee, alien, convey and confirm uunto the said Sarah Batts her heirs and assigns all that tract of parcel of land situate lying and being partly in Burke and partly in Jefferson Counties in the State of Georgiaaforesaid containing One Hundred Acres more or less and is part of a tract of two hundred acres originally granted to Archibald Little and that Lots or partition drawn by Amelia Ann Davis in a division of the Estate of Benjamin Davis died and by her husband Thomas B. (illegible) conveyed to Jesse H Davis and by the said Jesse H. Davis conveyed to the said Jesse rose. Bounded northwesterly by Matthew Wood North Easterly Green Roberts and on all other sides by Morgan Rodgers's land. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land unto her the said Sarah Batts her heirs and assigns together with all and singular the rights members and appurtenances thereof to the same in any manner belonging to her and their own proper use benefits and behoof forever in fee simple. And the said Jesse Rose for himself his Heirs (2wd illegible) and assignes the aforesaid Tract of land and premises unto the said Sarah batts her heirs executors admins assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend against themselves and against the claim of all other persons whatever. Inwitness whereof the said Jesse Rose hath hereunto set his hand and offixed his seal the day and year first above written.
