This is an odd document. It starts out as a standard bond for land sale document, but looks like Robert Perrett has signed over his land grant for being a minute soldier to Elijah Clarke, and Clarke is then to proceed to gain such land from the governor. Parts of the document look like a power of attorney that Perrett is granting Clarke to process that transaction. It may be that Perrett sold his land grant to Clarke and this is the document formalizing it. Perrett appears to have signed with an X, indicating he may not have been literate.
