Plat map of 304 Acres in Jefferson County granted to James Woodbourn, 1804, 21 February 1804
Scope and Contents
Plat was done for Horatio (Hor.) Marbury (Georgia's Secretary of State at the time), but it doesn't say why Mr. Marbury had the plat drawn unless it was part of the grant for Mr. Woodbourn, who may have been granted the land as part of Revolutionary war service - though I can find no record of him in a quick search. An interesting side note - Horatio Marbury was born in Calvert county MD. and moved to Georgia in in the early 1770's. He was a calvary officer in the Georgia Brigade during the revolutionary war and was elected Georgia's second Secretary of State in 1799.
