This is a letter from LtGen Wade Hampton III (CSA Commander of Artillery for the Army of Northern Virginia) to probably BGen Marcus Stovall thanking him for the letter Gen Stovall sent him to inform him of an honor Gen Stovall's "association" had bestowed upon him. Gen Stovall was active in the Augusta Chapter of the Confederate Survivor's Association and it is likely they had passed some proclamation honoring General Hampton previous to this letter. Dated May 1st 1893.
